Obituary

Margaret Gale Bowman Hamilton, 85, passed away on October 27, 2026, in Brandon, Mississippi, at Peachtree Village, just two days before her 86th birthday.

Margaret will be remembered as a woman of faith, devotion, and quiet service. She loved singing in the choir at Cross Roads Baptist Church and found joy in traveling with church groups. She also enjoyed working at the voting polls and served as an assistant teacher. At home, she expressed her care for others through crocheting, sewing, cooking, and canning vegetables. Above all, she treasured reading her Bible, which remained at the center of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Travis Ray Hamilton; her father, Walter D. Bowman; her mother, Mary Alice Carter Bowman; her brother, William Wayne “Billy” Bowman; and her great-grandchild, Brett Holmes.

Margaret’s memory will be cherished by her family, who were a lasting source of pride and love in her life. She is survived by her son, Michael Ray “Mickey” Hamilton and his wife, Monique, of Pelahatchie, and by her daughter, Elizabeth Gail “Beth” Wolverton and her husband, Tim, of Pelahatchie. She is also survived by her brothers, James Henry Bowman and his wife, Jennifer, of Pelahatchie, and David Lynn Bowman of Pelahatchie.

Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Misty Edwards, Heather Thrasher, Bryan Hamilton, Walter Hamilton, Alex Davis, Adam Wolverton, and Abbi Walters, and through her great-grandchildren, Camden Patton, Kyndal Patton, Dawson Edwards, Maddie Holmes, Michael Hamilton, Maddox Hamilton, Noralyn Hamilton, Brooks Davis, Jack Walters, and Brock Walters.

Margaret Gale Bowman Hamilton will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her loving hands, and the many simple, meaningful ways she cared for the people around her. Her life leaves a lasting imprint on all who knew and loved her.

Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton is honored to serve the Hamilton family.
