Lois May Seymour, also known to many as Sister Celeste, passed away peacefully on February 8th, 2026, after an extended time in the hospital. Lois was born to Geneva and Louis Seymour on May 2nd, 1935, in Iron Mountain, Michigan, where she grew up. She got her Masters Degrees in education.

In 1956, Lois answered the call to enter The Convent of the Holy Spirit in Techny, Illinois. This began her many roles in education including administrator of Holy Ghost and Christ the King Catholic Schools in the early 1970s in Jackson. For a brief time she was the administrator at St. Rose Catholic School in Bay St. Louis, MS.

In 1980, Lois resigned from the convent and began work at Mississippi Valley Gas until her retirement in 2001. She was a beloved member and leader at St. Therese Catholic Church in Jackson, including choir director. Her role as a member of the pastoral team at St. Dominic Cancer Center was one that Lois loved, ministering and praying with patients there. Lois moved to Pearl in 2007 and joined St. Jude Parish and served on the RCIA team for many years.

Lois was talented in many areas. She taught herself to sew and was very gifted in painting. She taught herself to play the guitar and she sang with the voice of an angel! Those who knew Lois well were often treated to her delicious meals and her fabulous candy. She was a master cook who could take a recipe and create and awesome meal.

Lois is survived by many friends and her family in Michigan and Minnesota. A Celebration of Life was held at St. Jude Catholic Church in Pearl, MS, on Saturday, February 21st with visitation at 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m.
