Obituary

At exactly 4:00 p.m. on December 6, 2025, Lydia “Karen” Jones departed this earthly life and entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1-2pm at Ott and Lee in Forest, followed by a funeral service at 2pm. Burial will take place at Hopewell Baptist Church in Lake, Ms.

Known affectionately to many as “Mama K,” Karen was a woman of remarkable strength, gentleness, and compassion. She never raised her voice in anger and possessed an extraordinary gift for offering comfort in times of trouble. Friends and family often sought her wisdom, finding in her a steady voice that could calm the storm and bring clarity to confusion. With keen insight and genuine empathy, she helped countless people find peace and perspective. Her soft, deep blue eyes could melt a soul, and her heart seemed as vast as creation itself.

Karen was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She fiercely loved her little Maltese, Jasmine “Jazzy,” cherished ocean cruises, and never passed up the chance to visit the Caribbean Islands.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Otis Murphy and Lillian Joyce Wigley. Karen is survived by her devoted husband, Jeffery Jones, who described her as not only his loving wife, but his very best friend; three children: Amy Lynn Johnson of Canton, Marshall Lance Jones of Madison, and Gary Keith Johnson of Brandon; one brother, Charles May of Brandon; three grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

“To me, she was the love of my life and my truest companion. Her absence leaves an immeasurable void, but her memory will remain etched in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten,” -Jeffrey Jones
