Julie Anne Russell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was escorted into Heaven by her Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 19, 2025, at Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest, Mississippi. She was 71 years old.
Born on November 12, 1953, in Wellsville, New York, Julie lived a life full of love, faith, and devotion to her family and her Lord. She had a deep passion for traveling, especially with her devoted husband of 50 years, Rodney Russell. Together, they explored all of the lower 48 states and were especially blessed to visit her “happy place,” Alaska, multiple times.
Julie had a gift for nurturing beauty, whether it was through the vibrant flowers she tended in her yard or the lives she touched in her community. Known for her spontaneous spirit, she often enjoyed unplanned shopping trips to Flowood and never missed an opportunity to support her children and grandchildren in their musical or athletic endeavors.
For many years, Julie was the owner of The Gift Christian Bookstore, where she ministered to countless people through her faith and warm presence. Her relationship with the Lord was the foundation of her life, and she had a deep desire for her children and grandchildren to know the love of Christ. She faithfully served in her church, joyfully working with children, playing the piano, and stepping in wherever she was needed.
Julie is survived by her loving husband, Rodney Russell of Forest, MS; her children, Clifford LaRue Russell (Deborah) of Collierville, TN, and Stacey Leah Mitchell (Brian) of Forest, MS, both of whom were a constant source of pride and joy to her; and her brothers, Dan Perry (Diana), Mike Perry, and Scott Perry. She also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, with whom she loved picking blueberries, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, James Nathan Russell; her parents, David Perry and Shirley Avard; and her sister, Cindy Perry.
Julie’s life will be celebrated with a family graveside service at Harperville Cemetery on Saturday, August 23rd. A memorial service will follow at Embrace Church at 2:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 1:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Julie’s memory to the Center of Hope Pregnancy Resource Center.
Julie’s legacy of faith, love, and joyful service will live on in all who knew and loved her.
