Joy Ann Smith, of Pearl, Mississippi, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, in Jackson, Mississippi, at the age of 87.

Joy was born September 11, 1938, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She worked as a bank teller at Deposit Guaranty for 30 years, and she enjoyed painting in her spare time. She will be remembered as a woman who was devoted to her Christian faith and loved her family deeply.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Vaughn and Lydia Hampton, and her son, Brett Sanchagrin.

Survivors include her children, Doug Sanchagrin (Deborah) and Brenda Sanchagrin; brother, Vaughn Hampton, Jr.; five grandchildren, Melissa Gwen, Kayla Franklin (Michael), Brian Sanchagrin (Ashely), Blake Sanchagrin (Hannah), and Kimberly Watts (Hunter); and eight great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, and again on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 am. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am on Friday in the funeral home chapel. Joy will be laid to rest following the service in Mays Cemetery in Brandon.
