Johnny William Goolsby, 59, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026 at Diverse Care in Quitman, MS. Visitation will be held at Ott and Lee in Forest on Wednesday from 5-8pm. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10am in the Ott and Lee Chapel. Burial will follow in the Antioch-Steele Primitive Baptist Cemetery. Bro. Reggie Tatum will officiate.

Johnny worked several jobs as a young man, including Tadlock Stockyards, which he particularly enjoyed because he loved horses. He enjoyed playing pool, being around friends and family, and having a good time.

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin William Goolsby and Nellie Ruth Goss Goolsby; three brothers, Alvin Arthur, Martin Earl, and Grover Fredrick Goolsby; and one sister, Dorothy Goolsby.

He is survived by brothers, Sam and Tony (Maedean) Goolsby; sisters, Mildred Risher (Sammy Windham), and Iva Nell (Danny) Wilcher; and a host of nieces and nephews and loved ones.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Jessica Dumas, Nikki Farmer, Amanda Goolbsy, Barbara Goolsby, Jayden Wilcher, and James Fortenberry.

Ott and Lee Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
