Mara Jean Johnson, March 21, 1954 – May 26, 2026

Jean Johnson, age 72, died May 26, 2026, following a long illness.

Having received a Master’s degree in Social Work, Jean spent her entire 42 year career as a social worker at Mississippi State Hospital – Whitfield.

Jean was blessed with a gracious number of friends, both human and feline that she so treasured. She was known for her laughing good humor and her compassion for others in the best example of Christian service. She loved her church, her family, her cats, and her cowboy boots!

Jean was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mary & Ralph Johnson, brothers Joe and Bob Johnson. She leaves behind her devoted sister Sara and brother Bill.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 104 N College Street, Brandon, MS 39042.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the animal charity of your choice or to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Brandon Mississippi
