James Francis Carter, born on February 9, 1961, in Tucson, Arizona, passed away on April 3, 2026, in Jackson, Mississippi. He will be remembered as a good man and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
James spent 15 years as the assistant manager of Flying J and worked for 10 years in the automotive department at Walmart, sharing his knowledge and skills with coworkers and customers alike.
He was born to William B. Carter and Mary Hagerty Carter, who preceded him in death. He also lost his sister Mary Applegate, his brother-in-law George Applegate, and his nephew Michael Clemmons before his passing.
James is survived by his wife of 25 years, Faye K. Carter, who shared many years of life and love with him. He is also remembered by his stepchildren DeWayne Peacock (Darrah) and Nicholas Peacock; his sister, Patricia Herrin (Steve); his brother, William B. Carter, Jr. (Darlene); grandchildren, Macey, Brady, Brianna, Joey, Aubrey, and Kennedy Peacock; his best friend, Mark Echavarry; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A visitation will be held on April 18, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, at Ott & Lee Funeral Homes in Brandon, Mississippi, with a memorial service following at 10:00 AM in the chapel.
James Francis Carter’s life was marked by kindness and hard work. Though he is no longer with us, his memory will live on through the hearts of his family and friends.
