Eddie Allen Cotton, age 77, of Brandon, MS, went to be with his heavenly father on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.He was a Christian and believed Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Mr. Cotton was born on September 18, in Indianola, Mississippi. He has been married to his soul mate, Betty Cotton, for 58 years; they had just celebrated their 58th year together in July. He married Betty Warren, of Ridgeland, MS, in July of 1968. Together Eddie and Betty raised 6 children, which were his pride and joy. He said, "his children were his best accomplishment." 

Eddie, with a third grade education, worked hard to take care of his family. When he moved to Texas in the 70's, he learned a trade in Air Conditioning and Heating and eventually he was able to open up his own business in the Air Conditioning and Heating field, despite his inability to read. The success of his business, and the ability to provide for a large family, inspired other family members to also work in this field. Eddie was adamant about his children receiving a good education, and later in life, when his son was a baby, he hired a tutor and learned to read. He was so proud that all 6 of his children went on to either have trades or they attended Institutions of higher learning and received degrees in the Medical field. 

Eddie in his spare time, loved working on classic cars. He would always say, "it isn't what you buy, it's what you build," and he did. He loved racing his restored 51 Studebaker when the Pearl drag strip was still open. He hunted with his brothers and loved fishing with his wife and children. He enjoyed watching old Western reruns, and anything classic car related. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and his grandchildren. He was extremely intelligent and a patient teacher; he loved sharing his knowledge with others that wanted to learn. His work ethic was impeccable and he passed this trait on to his children, "always give 110% no matter what the job". 

Eddie Cotton, PVT., served in the U.S. Army Reserve during the Vietnam era. He was recognized and awarded several service metals for his service. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Vincent Cotton WWII Veteran, Korea; his mother, Maggie Sue Rodgers; and brother, Albert Cotton U.S Marine Corp, Vietnam. 

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Cotton of Brandon, MS; his children, Nancy Harrell of Morton, MS, Tracey Dickerson of Crystal Springs, MS, Julie Lovett of Brandon, MS, Pam Brown of Brandon MS, Patsy Weeks of Brandon MS, and Allen Cotton of Brandon, MS; he celebrated his children making him a Paw Paw to 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Charlotte Lutrick of Pearl, MS, and Patricia Poe of Florence, MS; and his brother, Billy Cotton of Jackson, MS. 

A Celebration of Life Ceremony with Military Honors for immediate family is to be determined at a later date. 

Inurnment will be in Morton, MS, next to his mother, Maggie Sue Rodgers.
