Obituary

Ethel Ray McIntyre Jr. (88) of Antioch went to his eternal home on June 30, 2026.

Visitation will be held at Antioch Baptist Church on Thursday, July 2, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m., with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m.

Mr. E.R. was born on March 30, 1938, to Ethel Ray Sr. and Billie McIntyre. He married his sweetheart on December 20, 1959. He made a career out of farming, owning chicken houses, raising cattle and working in the hayfields. He found his greatest joy in the simple rhythms of life: cutting his grass, sharing stories from the porch, and, most of all, never missing an opportunity to tell his family exactly how proud he was of them. Beyond his own family, he served as a faithful friend to many, generously pouring his wisdom into those around him.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Todd McIntyre, Angie Haskins (Thad), Brandi Jones (Parks); grandchildren Hailey Pagart (Jesse), Ashlyn Battle (Cooper), Tyler McIntyre (Courtney), Ryan Smith (Allie), Zachary McIntyre, Maddox Smith, and Tanner Smith; great-grandchildren, Jayden and Landen Pagart, Haskins and Emma Battle, Elliot, Lofton and Russell McIntyre, and Jason Smith.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Faye McIntyre; son, Leon McIntyre; parents, Ethel Ray and Billie McIntyre; sister, Jean; beloved in-laws, Lavoy and Floyce Wilkinson and many dear family and friends.

The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for him through the years.
