Desieree May Was born December 18, 1932, to R.B. and Annie Jewel Chandler in Neshoba County, Mississippi.

Visitation will be at Ephesus Baptist Church on Saturday, September 19th from 9-10am, with the service beginning at 10, Bro. Chris Harrison will officiate. Graveside services will follow at Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery. 

She started working as a nursing aide at Lackey Memorial Hospital in the late 50s. After going back to school and getting her RN degree, she came back to Lackey to work. After working several years in Georgia, she came back to Mississippi and worked at Indian Health in Philadelphia. She later transferred to the VA Hospital in Jackson. She retired from the VA and came back to Lackey to run the senior care unit. After 10 years, she retired again and came home.

She donated the first quilt top for the Ephesus quilters and was an active quilter and Ephesus Pantry member until her health failed. She was a member of Ephesus Baptist church for over 60 years.

She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth May, her parents R.B. and Annie Jewel Chandler, her daughter Cheryl McGee, grandson Jody Riser, great granddaughter Cheyanne Hollingsworth, sisters Arbella Parker, Otsiree Taylor, Mary Harkey, and Faye Lanthrip.

She is survived by daughters Charlotte Bell and Donna Riser (Butch Scott), her son Johnny Phillips (Debbie), son-in-law Rickie McGee, grandchildren Roger Bell (Paula), Elizabeth Wicker (Ladell), Rebecca Hollingsworth (Brad), Jenetta Hill (Dreak), Shelly Boone (Gene), John Carl Riser (Erica), granddaughter-in-law Kathleen Riser, Ben Stewart (Connie), Joni Boswell (Will), Leslie White (Matthew), Aubrey Phillips (Eric), Jessie Marcolini (Chris), Vickie Hollingsworth (Justin), Christi Moore (Chris), Randy Mcgee, Taylor Boswell (Abby), Zach Boswell (Hannah), Meagan McDaniels (Seth), 20 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Wilson Bell, Tanner Bell, Tucker Bell, Wesley Bell, Nic Boswell, Harley Bailey, Delton Boone, Chase Boone, Ripley White, Parker McGee, and Case Wicker.
