Cheryl Elizabeth Phillips McGee, beloved wife, mother, sister, MawMaw, and friend, was born on June 6, 1960, and departed this life on April 12, 2026, at the age of 65. Cheryl was born to Donnie Phillips and Desieree Chandler May and was a lifelong resident of the Ringgold community.
As the youngest sister, Cheryl was treasured by her brothers and sisters, Charlotte (late Truman) Bell, Donna Riser (Butch Scott), Dingus (Debbie) Phillips, Lee Phillips, and Craig (Mandy) Wolf. Her gentle heart and quick wit made her the one everyone could count on for comfort and laughter.
On July 20, 1990, Cheryl married the love of her life, Rickie McGee, and together they shared more than 35 years of marriage. Their home was full of laughter and unconditional love, especially for their six children: Ben (Connie) Stewart, Joni (Will) Boswell, Leslie (Matthew) White, Vickie (Justin) Hollingsworth, Christie (Chris) Moore, and Randy McGee.
Cheryl’s greatest joy in life came from her role as MawMaw to her 13 grandchildren, Eli Stewart, Emily Stewart, Nic Boswell, Taylor (Abby) Boswell, Megan (Seth) McDaniel, Zach (Hannah) Boswell, Audri Ann White, Ripley White, Hutson Hollingsworth, Hayz Hollingsworth, Parker McGee, Millie Ann McGee, and Maggie Moore, and 4 great-grandchildren, Nate Boswell, Jax McDaniel, Luke McDaniel, and Georgia Boswell.
If you ever had the pleasure of talking with Cheryl, you quickly learned that her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She loved to brag about each and every one of them. She could talk for hours about their latest accomplishments, funny stories, or simply how proud she was of the people they were becoming. Being “MawMaw” was more than a title to Cheryl, it was her greatest joy, and she took it seriously, always finding ways to spoil them with love, gifts, and laughter.
Cheryl will be remembered for her generous heart, her genuine kindness, and the way her laughter could fill a room. Her love for her family and friends will live on in the countless memories she leaves behind.
She is preceded in death by her father, Donnie Phillips, her stepfather, Kenneth May, her stepmother, Vera Phillips, and her great niece, Cheyanne Hollingsworth.
Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest is honored to serve the McGee family.
