Funeral services will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 2pm. Interment will be in Lakewood Memorial Park South on McCluer Road in Jackson, MS.
Charles Breland Jones was born on June 28, 1939, in a small farmhouse in Carson, Mississippi — a humble home filled with love, hard work, and the lively energy of his parents and seven siblings. His father was a surveyor and farmer, his mother a devoted homemaker, and together they raised their large family by working the land, growing crops, and hunting to keep everyone fed.
As a young boy, Charles found joy outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing on the family property, a pastime that would stay with him throughout his life.
Charles graduated from Bassfield High School in 1958, where his classmates voted him “Pretty Boy.” He boxed his way through high school, but his greatest passion was hunting — especially coon hunting, which became a defining part of who he was.
In his early twenties, Charles worked for Independent Plumbing before taking a bold step and starting his own company, Jones Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning. Around that time, he met the love of his life, Linda Jackson of Jackson, Mississippi. He fell for her instantly, and just six months later, on July 31, 1965, they were married. For the next 60 years, Charles never let a day pass without telling Linda how beautiful she was and how deeply he loved her — even up to his final breath.
After some years in plumbing, Charles began Tri-State Road Boring with his friend Marvin Gibson, working across Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana. But his heart pulled him back to plumbing, and he returned to build a thriving business in Pearl, Mississippi for the next 60 years, with Linda faithfully running the office beside him. If you needed a plumber, chances are Charles showed up with a helping hand and a warm smile.
He was blessed with two daughters, Renee' and Brandi whom he spoke with daily and looked forward to their visits.
When he wasn’t working, you could find him doing what he loved most — coon hunting in the middle of the night, cheering on his granddaughters at the softball field, or sitting in his favorite spot at Sunday church. To Charles, Sundays were sacred: church, lunch at Western Sizzlin’, and time with family. On special evenings, you’d find him at Crechale’s, surrounded by the people he loved.
One of his proudest accomplishments was earning the title of World Champion Coon Hunter. He treasured the friendships he made through the sport and traveled often to compete. Charles was the kind of friend who would show up for you without hesitation.
As he grew older, he developed a new hobby — fruit stands. He loved clearing them out and delivering fresh fruit to anyone he knew. Later, it became farm-fresh eggs, and if you lived nearby, you could count on Charles showing up with a carton in hand. He loved his home, his chickens, his pond, and feeding his fish — always welcoming visitors with open arms and a good story. His jokes, laughter, and unforgettable tales will be dearly missed.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Elaine Jones; brothers Billy Jones (and wife Joyce), Buster Jones, and Bruce Jones; sisters Merle Jones Brown (and husband Bobby) and Dauphine Jones Bass (and husband Wade).
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Linda Jones, and their daughters: Renee Jones Bridges and husband Ronny of Brandon, Mississippi
Brandi Jones Taylor and husband Stephen of Katy, Texas. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren — Londen Brooke Ladner and wife Hailey of Bay Minette, Alabama; Parris Douglas and husband Eric of Jacksonville, Florida; Abigail Taylor and Wyatt Taylor of Katy, Texas — and his three great-grandchildren Cayden, Layla, and Brantley.
Charles is also survived by his sisters Patricia Baggett (Austin, deceased) of Fort Myers, Florida, Mag Prewitt (Jim) of Tucker, Georgia and Sybil Jones.
In honor of Mr. Jones, please come in casual attire such as jeans and camouflage.
