Mrs. Carolyn Weaver Nester, 86, a lifelong resident of Lake passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026 at her home. Visitation will be held at Pine Ridge Missionary Baptist Church at 457 Pine Ridge Rd, Lawrence Ms 39336 on Wednesday, September 30 from 11-1pm, with the funeral service beginning at 1pm. Bro. Bobby Everett and Bro. Eric Sharp will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

Carolyn was born in Newton County, Ms to Marion Houston and Nettie Mae Emmons Weaver on May 20, 1940. She married the love of her life, Daniel Nester, in November 1958, and spent 67 wonderful years building a life with him. Carolyn worked at Sunbeam in Forest for a while and then found her passion as a teacher’s assistant at Lake Elementary School, where she worked for nearly 20 years until she retired. She had a servant’s heart and loved to volunteer, from anything to providing blankets to babies in the Ronald McDonald House, to offering comfort to hospice patients, she was always finding new ways to share God’s love. She was an active member of Pine Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, and a member of the Norris Homemaker’s Club. She found peace and relaxation in her quilting, sewing, and working in her flower gardens. She especially loved her yearly retreat with her Sunbeam Sisters at Roosevelt State Park. Carolyn could easily be described as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother- and was affectionately called “Granny” by her family. She was always busy doing something, but never too busy to babysit any of her precious grandbabies.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marion Houston and Nettie Mae Weaver; infant sister, Marion Mae Weaver; sister, Willie Mae Bunch; and brothers, Howard and James Weaver, and Sidney Emmons.

She leaves behind her husband, Daniel Nester; three children, Mike Nester, Melissa Nester Clark (Kent), and Matthew Nester (Jessica); sister, Pat Brock; nine grandchildren, Logan Nester (Jessica), Harmonee Nester (Jerek), Jonathan Clark (Stacy), Amanda Sharp (Eric), Hannah Warren (Dillan), Noah Clark, Cole Nester, Madison Nester, and Raini Nester; 15 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to Accent Care Home Health, Quality Hospice Care, and Ms. Karen Avery with Ann’s Adult Sitting Service – all of whom were a huge part in keeping Mrs. Carolyn at home with her family.

Pallbearers will be Mickey McMillan, Mike Hines, Jack Everett, Jonathan Clark, Logan Nester, and Noah Clark

Honorary pallbearers will be Cole Nester, Delbert Walton, Eric Sharp, and Dillan Warren.
