Carmen Miranda Gaines, 96, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, in Jackson, Mississippi.

Carmen was born on June 22, 1929, in Puerto Rico to Tomas Miranda and Maria Martinez Miranda. She worked as an HR Manager for the Pin-Sol for many years. A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Paquita Miranda Mas.

Survivors include her two daughters, Frances G. Newell (Michael) and Rebecca L. Gaines; grandsons, Dominic Newell and Anthony Newell; great grandchildren, Savannah, Charlotte, Josie, and Eleanor Newell; and siblings, Finita Miranda Soto, Jose T. Miranda (Elsa), and Rodrigo Miranda (Rita).

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 3:00 pm in the chapel at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon.
