Obituary

Brittany Ann Mack, 35, of Jackson, Mississippi, went home to be with Jesus on July 20, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born Brittany Ann Ransom on May 9, 1991, in Decorah, Iowa, to Lisa and Chris Ransom. Her family moved to Brandon when she was two. She graduated from Brandon High School in 2009 and completed her RN,BSN at Mississippi College in 2013. Brittany later earned her DNP in healthcare administration. She and Myer made their home in Jackson.

Brittany was named Mississippi Nurse Educator of the Year during her career at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Her journey at UMMC began before she finished nursing school, through an externship with Children's of Mississippi and work as a student nurse technician. She officially joined UMMC as a registered nurse in 2013 and served over the years as a floor nurse, nurse educator, and nurse manager, helping open two new hospital floors. In 2023, she became manager of Volunteer Services, a role she considered one of her dream jobs. Brittany was dedicated to the enhancement of Volunteer Services after Covid. She left the work she loved to care for her son, John Hart, full time.

She married Myer Hart Mack on December 11, 2020. They met in 2018 while he was working for her mother at Regions. She was a member of Word of Life Church.

Brittany was a nurse in every part of her life, not only at work. When John Hart was six months old and stopped breathing, she ran the code on her own son with her own hands in the back seat while Myer drove. John Hart is here today because of her.

She loved God and she loved people. More than a year of treatment did not change her faith and her compassion toward others. Even when she was the one hurting, she took care of everyone around her. Her children learned to pray at her side.

She is survived by her husband, Myer Hart Mack of Jackson; her son, John Hart Mack, and her daughter, Miller Ann Mack; her parents, Lisa and Chris Ransom; and her brothers, Hunter Ransom, Jack Ransom, and Miller Ransom.

Brittany was named after her grandmother, Ann Miller, for whom her daughter, Miller Ann, is also named. Brittany proudly shared her middle name with both her mother and her grandmother.

Visitation will be held at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm, with the funeral service beginning in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 pm. Brittany will be laid to rest in Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon following the service.
