Billy Dale Crapps, born on July 10, 1941, in Branch, Mississippi, peacefully passed away in his hometown on July 6, 2026, just four days shy of his eighty-fifth birthday. Billy was a lifelong resident of Branch, where he left a deep and lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Billy’s life was defined by profound devotion to his family, a great work ethic, and an unwavering sense of community. He grew up in a close-knit family as the beloved son of Earnest and Jennie Crapps.
He cherished fifty-eight years of marriage with his late wife, Catherine Crapps, whose memory remained a guiding light in Billy’s later years. Together, they welcomed and raised a large and loving family. He loved to fish, quail hunting and grilling. He loved spending time with his grandchild Noah. Billy also loved helping people and would open up to his house to anyone in need. His house was known as the get-together place for any occasion.
Billy is survived by his children: his sons, Randy Crapps (Lori), Kevin Crapps, and Jim Allen, and his daughters, Donna Alford and Ellen Allen Bevon (Charlie). As a grandfather, Billy delighted in the accomplishments and joy of his grandchildren: Micah Wright, Elizabeth Greer, Delayn Alford, Dillon Alford, Noah Crapps, Cameron Bevon, and Morgan Bevon. His kindness and stories were also a cherished part of life for his great-grandchildren: Avery Greer, Presley Wright, Sawyer, Payton, and Parker Alford.
Billy was predeceased by those dear to him: his devoted wife, Catherine Crapps; his father, Earnest Crapps; his mother, Jennie Crapps; his brothers, Charlie Crapps, Haywood Crapps, and Otis Crapps; and his sister, Earnestine Pigg. The memories they created together live on in the hearts of those remaining.
