Benjamin Ellis Hare, a devoted Christian, Bama fan, loving husband, father, and proud United States Army veteran, passed away peacefully at his home in Forest, Mississippi, on September 5, 2023, after an arduous battle with a long-term illness over which his fervent hope to achieve victory never wavered. Born March 28, 1956, in Amite, Louisiana, to Charles B. Hare and Mary Nell Hare, née Helms, Benjamin led a life marked by faith, family, and endurance.
Growing up in Pearl, Mississippi, and later in Prattville, Alabama, Benjamin graduated high school in 1973, laying the foundation for his future endeavors. Along with his beloved wife Lili, he built and operated Hare Sharpening Service, LLC, initially in Magee, MS, before relocating to Forest 15 years ago.
Predeceased by his daughter Angie Hargett and sister Gloria Lundy, Benjamin leaves behind a legacy that will be lovingly remembered and carried on by his surviving family. This includes his wife of 20 years, Lili Hare, née Barkley; son Charlie Daniel Hare and wife Amanda (Forest, Mississippi); brother Bill Hare and his wife Terri (Wetumpka, Alabama); and sister Gail H. Netherland and her husband Charles (Highland Home, Alabama).
Benjamin will also be remembered with love by stepsons John Jenni (Raleigh); stepdaughter Syble Sharon Harrison and her husband Arich (Orlando); stepson Joseph Jenni and his wife Jennifer (Reno, Nevada); as well as Joshua Jenni and his wife Brittany (Reno).
Together with Lili, Benjamin was the proud grandfather to 17 grandchildren and great-grandfather to four.
Benjamin’s memory will continue to be a beacon of faith, hope, and love for all who knew him.
