Aldewin Johnson Jr.

April 6, 1933 — October 11, 2017

Aldewin T. Johnson, Jr.
Brandon, MS
Aldewin Theo (A.T.) Johnson, Jr., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 11, 2017.
A.T. was born on April 6, 1933, in Bellamy, Alabama. He spent his childhood in Jackson, Mississippi, and graduated from Jackson’s Central High School in 1951. A.T. went on to attend Mississippi State University, where he graduated in 1961 with a double major in electrical engineering and business.
A.T. worked at Mississippi Power and Light Company (now, Entergy) for thirty years. He proudly served as plant manager at the steam electric power stations in Cleveland, Natchez, Vicksburg, and, finally, Jackson, where he ultimately retired in 1995.
A.T. was an avid outdoorsman, and was happiest when he was hunting, fishing, or tending to his garden. He also enjoyed studying geneology, a hobby which no doubt stemmed from his steadfast devotion to his family.
A.T. was a member of Riverside Independent Methodist Church in Flowood. He professed his faith as a Christian at an early age, and is assuredly now at peace in the Lord’s arms.
A.T. is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Aldewin T. Johnson, Sr. (Laura Nutt Johnson), and his brother, Samuel E. Johnson. He is survived by his devoted wife of almost sixty-three years, Margaret Smith Johnson, of Brandon; his son, Aldewin T. Johnson, III (Susie), of Brandon; his daughter, Amy Johnson Ward (Greg), of Madison; and his sister, Marjorie Ellen Johnson Greenough (Earl), of Hurley. He is also survived by his grandchildren, of whom he was most proud: Sloan, Jenna, Wade, and Kerry.
Services will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Jackson, MS.   Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
