Robert Ray (Bob) Maselle

Brandon, MS

Robert Ray (Bob) Maselle, 88, a native son of Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at Mississippi State Veterans Home in Collins, MS.  A Celebration will be held at 7pm Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS with visitation starting at 4pm.

Bob was born to Jessie and D.T. Measells along with his twin sister, Binnie, on Dec. 18th 1930.  He and Binnie joined their “older” brother D.T. Jr.

Bob was educated at Branch School, University of Southern Mississippi and Purdue University, where he met his wife, Janice Walsh.  They were married in August of 1955 after he completed his service to his country.  The were proud parents of BinnieJo, Doug, Lynnette and Mona, and dearly loved their spouses, Bill Boggan, Nita Renfroe, Tom Groff and Bill McElroy.  Their family continued to grow and over the years adding 15 grandchildren, Addy Villerreal, Katie Vance, Matt Cole, John David Cole, Mark Cole, Bryan Boggan, Christian Boggan, Peyton Boggan, Monique Kelly, Clay Maselle, Laurel Drayton, Brandon Groff, Will McElroy, Drew McElroy and Amelia Shipp and 15 great-grandchildren and as Bob would say, “one in the oven.”

Bob was a loving father, husband and friend and to know him was to love him.  Bob supported his passion of giving with work in the insurance and real estate businesses.

Bob considered his teaching of God’s Word his first priority after family and friends.  He taught the Bible through and many chapters by request to his loyal class at Crossgates Baptist Church for over 25 years.  Bob lived his last year and a half at the VA home in Collins, where he was loved and cared for by the wonderful staff.

All who knew him will miss him and his big smile, his acts of support and his laughter, especially at himself.

Memorials may be made to the Brandon Gideons.
