Zenith Lewis

January 14, 1924 — November 6, 2017

Zenith Lewis left her earthly home and went to her heavenly home, Monday, November 6, 2017 at the age of 93.
She was married to Virgil Lewis for only five years before his death.  He was the love of her life as she remained a widow for almost 70 years.
Zenith had only one daughter whom she loved beyond measure, Elizabeth Hawthorne, and only one grandchild, Angela Hawthorne, the apple of her eye, and one very special son-in-law, David Hawthorne.
Zenith’s working career began at S. H. Kresses in Jackson, and her last was the first City Clerk for the City of Richland, Where she lived for 90 of her 93 years.  Plain was the name for years before Richland became a City.
Zenith was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Luther and Tommie Elizabeth Smith Sparkman; her husband, Virgil Lewis; her brothers, W. L. Sparkman, Everett Sparkman, J. B. Sparkman and Bennie Sparkman; and sisters, Ruby Lee Daniels and Winnie Sparkman and one very special cat, Sweetie.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (David) and granddaughter Angela and numerous nieces and nephews as well as cousins, all of whom she loved dearly.  Special thanks go to her caretakers, Ludie Lewis, Elsie Hughes, and Mehgan and Julie from Sta-Home.
Ott and Lee Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements which will be held at First Baptist Church in Richland, MS on Wednesday, November 9, 2017.  Visitation will be 9:00 am until 11:00 am with the Service at 11:00 am at FBC Richland.  Burial will follow in the Richland Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to First Baptist Church, Richland, MS; Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital; or Richland Cemetery.
