David Bolian

March 16, 1945 — August 26, 2017

David Ronald Bolian
Brandon, MS

David Ronald Bolian had two speeds - slow and stop.

While he might have moved slow, once he started, he was a force to be reckoned with. From how to perfectly execute a fried egg sandwich to how to make his hair shine like a silver fox, nothing was too small to be precise. He applied this same fierceness to all things in his life - from learning, loving, and living.

Dave taught himself how to code machine language (before computers were cool) because someone told him couldn’t. He renovated both his daughters’ homes because he loved hard. He lived three years past a terminal diagnosis because that is just what he did. Stories like this are the norm for Dave.

Dave wasn’t the easiest person to love nor was he particularly easy to get to know. But the few who had the pleasure, were lucky. Some of the best moments were when he invented his own words and told bad jokes while sitting in his favorite chair with his lapdogs Emma and Bella. This always reliable, sometimes cranky, and uncompromisingly loyal man left a legacy in the lives of the people he loved.

While his earthly life might have “stopped” on 26 August 2017, his journey is just beginning at the young age of 72.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Deborah (Holyfield) Bolian; 3 Children: Aimee (Cory) Stanford, Glen Douglas Bolian, and Leah (Chris) Smith; Matthew (Patty Rincon) Bolian; 6 Grandchildren: Ty and Trevor Faulkner, Garrett and Baker Stanford, Naomi and Kane Smith; in-laws: Bill and Mary Holyfield; Aunts: Gilmer Depaula, Ethel Hutchinson and Shirley Nelson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Bolian and Flora May Moak, his older brother and sister, Doug Bolian and Geraldine Bolian Dalton.

The visitation will be held Tuesday, August 29 for family from 4pm-5pm and open visitation from 5pm-8pm at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.
